AI Cybersecurity  ·  Managed Detection & Response

Everyone promises detection. Ask for the number.

Every provider promises detection. Very few will tell you, in writing, how long the last thing they missed went unseen. We operate the capability and we publish the number.

24/7 OPERATEDMEASURED DWELL TIMEEFFECTIVENESS TESTED INDEPENDENTLY
The decisions underneath

Three questions decide the service.

Detection services are compared on tooling and staffing. They should be compared on where the coverage sits and how fast it is proven.

01

At which stage would you have seen it

Coverage at entry and coverage at objective are very different services. The stages in between are where dwell time is actually decided.

02

What is the measured number

Not the target, not the SLA. The number achieved on the last engagement, including the case that went badly.

03

Who tests whether it works

If the answer is the same organisation that operates it, the test is a marketing exercise regardless of how rigorously it is run.

How the path runs

Detection is a placement problem.

Every one of these paths is detectable. The question a service has to answer is at which stage, and how quickly. Choose an entry point.

ATTACK PATH— GATES USUALLY PRESENT
Select an entry point

Five stages, from the way in to the thing the attacker came for. What changes between paths is how long each stage stays invisible.

We publish the dwell time we actually achieved, not the one in the datasheet. A service that will not tell you where it failed to see something is asking to be trusted rather than measured.

How the service runs

Four things happen, continuously.

Not four phases of a project — four things running at once. Hover to see what each involves.

The boundary

We run it. We do not audit what we run.

Three moves. Two of them are ours, and the one in the middle is deliberately somebody else’s.

MOVE 01 — OURS

We operate the capability

Detection engineering, triage, response and the reporting that goes with it. This is an operational service with a named duty owner, not an advisory engagement.

MOVE 02 — NOT OURS

Somebody else tests it

Effectiveness testing of a service Orvix runs is performed by a party that does not report to the team running it. Where a regulator or a board needs the result to carry weight, that party is not Orvix.

MOVE 03 — OURS

We close what the test opened

Detection gaps found by the test become engineering work with a date against them, and the re-test is run by the tester rather than by us.

The sharpest argument we make about other suppliers is that nobody should audit their own estate. It applies here first.

The rest of this pillar.

Three engagements inside this pillar. Start with the question you can name, or take the whole estate at once.

Questions we are asked

Before you ask us.

Do you replace our SOC or work with it?
Either. Where an internal team exists the more common arrangement is that we hold the hours and the depth they cannot, and the escalation boundary is written down before the first incident rather than negotiated during one.
What dwell time do you commit to?
We commit to measuring and publishing it, per path, per quarter. Any provider quoting a single dwell-time figure across all entry vectors is quoting an average that hides exactly the paths you should be asking about.
Who performs the effectiveness testing?
A party that does not report to the team operating the service, and where the result needs to carry weight with a board or a regulator, not Orvix at all. This is a deliberate limit on what we will sell you.
Can you operate in Saudi Arabia?
Managed security operations in the Kingdom are licensed, and where a licence is required the operation is performed by a licensed partner under their own licence. We do not claim cover we do not hold. [SA review — confirm current NCA services-licensing position before publication.]

Start with the last thing you missed.

Thirty minutes. Bring the incident that took longest to notice and we will map where a gate could have sat.
